v1.6.405 — restore-immich, battle-tested before you ever need it
Posted by tomspark
This morning we shipped restore-immich, the one-command photo library rescue. Before anyone actually needs it in an emergency, Tom had us put it through a brutal stress review — simulating every way a restore could go wrong: a download that fails halfway, an update kicking off at the same moment, a backup file with an older database snapshot inside than its date suggests, a copied-over old backup pretending to be the newest one. v1.6.405 closes every gap that review found. The command now hard-verifies the database fully loaded before declaring success, locks out concurrent updates while it works, always tells you the exact date of the snapshot it's about to restore (and warns loudly if it's older than the backup file), and its just-in-case safety copy is now genuinely reloadable and private. If things ever go sideways with your photo library, this command has now earned the trust it asks for. Update from your dashboard, or: sudo sparkbox update
