TomAI says: "I hit a problem reaching the AI service mid-task: You've reached today's Tom AI usage budget for this SparkBox. It resets at midnight UTC (00:00) — try again after the reset.. Try again in a moment." but dashboard says: "Tom AI · TomSparkBox troubleshooter 44 / 1500 this month This month: 31 checks · 3 fixes"

Thanks for catching this — we definitely want to understand why TomAI threw that daily-budget error when the dashboard shows you at 44 of 1500 for the month. A couple quick things to help us debug: (1) Can you tell us the exact time you hit that error and what check you were running? (2) Have you hit the same error again since, or was it a one-time thing? The dashboard should be your source of truth — flagged this for the team. We'll get back to you once we know what's happening.

I'm hitting the same issue. Not sure what time but happened earlier today Oz time. Also getting player error on Jellyfin Restarts etc. don't seem to help

Thanks for confirming the TomAI budget error — that's being investigated. On the Jellyfin player error you mentioned: can you share a bit more detail? Is it an error message in the UI, a console error, or the video won't play at all? Also, does this happen with all videos or specific ones (different formats/sizes)? That'll help us narrow down whether it's related to the budget issue or something separate.

Hi Tom, It appears to happen with all videos I have. Hopefully, the image I have uploaded comes through OK.

Thanks, the image came through fine. That fatal player error box means the box tried to convert the video into a format your player can handle, and the converter crashed — your files are fine. Since it's hitting all your videos, I suspect a known issue where restarting things from the dashboard can knock that converter out until a deeper restart. On the machine SparkBox runs on, open a terminal and run: cd /opt/sparkbox && sudo sparkbox up media Give it a minute to finish, then try any video again. If they play, that was it — a proper fix is on the list. If not, tell me and we'll keep digging.

Thanks, My NAS mounts weren't coming up. I've adjusted my /etc/fstab automounts and added a crontab to check every 5 mins and mount -a if anything down. Cheers, Paul

Ah, that explains it — when the drive holding the videos isn't connected, the player throws that exact fatal error even though the videos themselves are fine. Your every-5-minutes auto-remount is a solid guard. Glad you're sorted, and shout if it pops up again.

I'm sorry, the issue ended up going away and I don't have access to that old chat anymore. It seems like paulrturnbull was more helpful than me!

No apology needed — you already gave us the useful part. Glad the issue ended up going away on its own, and don't worry about the old chat. From your screenshot-level detail plus another report of the same thing, we're fairly sure it's the box's daily AI counter tripping when it shouldn't — your dashboard number was the honest one. A fix is on the list. If it ever pops up again, just shout.

Thanks for flagging this — you, backspace and jessic all hit the same message in the last day, so this is on our side rather than anything on your box. Tom already has a fix on the list for the AI counter tripping early; he mentioned it further up this thread. Nothing to change on your end: the limit is time-based and clears on its own, so a retry after a short wait should get you through. I've re-flagged it with Tom alongside the other two reports so he can see it's still happening.
