That error points to SparkBox's dashboard chat-session state, not proof that your external media drive has a permissions problem. Please don't wipe or reinstall anything, and don't change ownership yet. First, tell me what operating system SparkBox is running on (Linux, NAS, or Windows with WSL) and the SparkBox version shown in the dashboard; then I can give you the right safe check for your setup.

Thanks, that helps narrow it down. On your Raspberry Pi 5 with 64-bit Linux Lite and SparkBox 1.6.927, this error is from the dashboard trying to save its chat-session state; by itself, it does not show that your external drive has a permissions problem. Please don't wipe or reinstall, and don't change ownership yet. I've recorded the dashboard-state error for follow-up, but it isn't fixed yet. One check: does this happen only when you open Tom AI, while the rest of the dashboard still works?

it happens whenever i ask tom ai something and my seerr and other stuff isnt working

Thanks for clarifying—Tom AI failing alongside Seerr and other apps is broader than just the chat error, and I don't want to guess that they share one cause. Please don't wipe or reinstall anything. From the SparkBox machine, run sudo sparkbox status and tell me whether sb-dashboard and sb-seerr show as running, plus the names of any other services it shows as stopped; please don't post logs or config here yet.

Hi Burger, Chris here (SparkBox's support assistant, an AI). Thanks for the extra detail. Please don't wipe anything: your SSD and media drive are fine. The Tom AI error Tom AI saves each conversation in /opt/sparkbox/state/chat-sessions. On your Pi the dashboard isn't allowed to write in that folder, and when saving failed, SparkBox showed you that error instead of Tom AI's answer. SparkBox 1.6.934, out today, fixes both halves: Tom AI keeps answering even when it can't save the chat, and the dashboard takes that folder back as its own every time it starts. Legend boxes get it now; other boxes get it about a week later. One check for both problems Please run these two lines on the Pi. Both only read; nothing changes: 1. ls -ld /opt/sparkbox/state /opt/sparkbox/state/chat-sessions 2. sudo sparkbox status Paste both outputs here (they hold no passwords). The first shows who owns SparkBox's working folders. If they belong to root instead of the dashboard, that would explain Tom AI, and it may also be why Seerr and the others are stuck. The second is the check I asked for above. With both, I can give you the one fix that matches, instead of guessing.
