Hi — I’m here. Sorry Jellyfin is still stuck loading. Tailscale showing connected doesn’t yet confirm Jellyfin is reachable. When you can, please share the SparkBox version and whether it runs on a NAS, Windows/WSL, or another Linux system. One useful check: does Jellyfin open on your phone while it’s on the same Wi‑Fi as the SparkBox? Please don’t post IP addresses or credentials.

My sparkbox version is v1.6.957 and my sparkbox is running on a windows. My Jellyfin opens on my phone to my server and account but it just does not load. I am pretty sure the sparkbox and phone are on the same wifi but i think tailscale does not depend on if the two devices have the same wifi.

Thanks, that helps, and you're right: Tailscale doesn't need both devices on the same Wi-Fi, so the phone can be on mobile data and still reach the box. Two checks, in this order, then stop: 1. On the Windows PC, open your Linux (WSL) terminal and run sparkbox urls. If one of the lines is followed by a note that the box "only works on this PC", the addresses it printed for home devices are private to Windows, so phones can't reach them. Don't post the addresses. 2. Turn Tailscale on on the phone. In the dashboard, open the "Connect your phone" section and use the "Anywhere (Tailscale on)" address for Jellyfin in the Jellyfin app's server entry, then try it. Reply with two things: whether the note from step 1 appeared, and whether Jellyfin loads with the Anywhere address in step 2. Please leave out any addresses or passwords.

The note from step 1 appeared however i do not know how to check for the setting for step 2
Chris wrote:
Thanks, that confirms the first check: the note means the home-network addresses that sparkbox urls prints only work on this PC, so your phone should use the Tailscale address instead. Sorry, I should have said where the step 2 setting is. It is in the dashboard, under Settings, in the section called "Access from anywhere": 1. Open the dashboard, go to Settings, and find "Access from anywhere". 2. Read the status line at the top of that section. The Anywhere address only appears once it shows Tailscale as connected. 3. If it shows connected, the Jellyfin card in that section has a box labelled "Anywhere (Tailscale on)". Put that address into the Jellyfin app on your phone with Tailscale turned on, then try it. If the status does not say connected, reply with only the words it shows, and leave out any addresses.

The tailscale app is on iphone. I do not think the setting is on my app
Chris wrote:
You're right, that setting isn't in the Tailscale app on your iPhone. It is in the SparkBox dashboard on your Windows PC, and I should have given the full menu path last time: Settings → Network → "Access from anywhere". One check, on the Windows PC (not the phone): 1. Open the SparkBox dashboard in a browser and go to Settings → Network. 2. Find "Access from anywhere" and read the status it shows. Reply with only the words that status shows, and leave out any addresses or passwords. The Tailscale app on your iPhone only needs to stay on for now; we'll get to the Jellyfin address once the status says connected.

It says i need to finish the setup by connecting to tailscale on my phone but i am already connected on my phone
Chris wrote:
Thanks, that helps. Your phone being connected is not the part SparkBox needs. The Anywhere address on the Jellyfin card only appears once the SparkBox box itself shows as connected to your Tailscale account. I can't find that exact wording in the dashboard, so please go by the status line itself. One check, on the Windows PC: 1. Open the SparkBox dashboard, go to Settings → Network, and scroll to "Access from anywhere". 2. Read the status line under the three numbered steps. Reply with only the words on that line, and leave out any addresses or passwords.

This is what is shows

Thanks. The picture did not come through to me as something I can read, so I can't see the status from it. Could you type the words from that status line here, leaving out any addresses or passwords? Once I have the exact words I'll tell you the next step.

connected to your tailnet
Chris wrote:
Thanks, that is the status we needed: SparkBox is connected to your tailnet. Next step, on the Windows PC: stay on Settings → Network → "Access from anywhere" and scroll down to "Connect your phone". Under Jellyfin, copy the address labelled "Anywhere (Tailscale on)". On the phone, turn Tailscale on, then in the Jellyfin app use that address as the server (add it as a new server, or change the existing one) and log in with your Jellyfin username and password. Reply with one word: "loads" or "still loading". Please leave out any address.

Still loading

Thanks, that tells us SparkBox is connected to your tailnet and the Anywhere address is in place. The Jellyfin app is still not getting an answer, so the next check is whether the request reaches Jellyfin at all. One check on the phone, with Tailscale turned on: 1. In Safari or Chrome on the phone, type the same "Anywhere (Tailscale on)" address, then add /System/Info/Public at the end. 2. Look at what the page shows. Reply with one of these: "shows info" (a page of text that includes a Jellyfin version number) or "times out" (the page never loads or says it cannot connect). Please leave out the address itself.
