Super noob banging his head on the wall

Ok... so I've reset sparkbox a couple of times thinking I did something wrong somewhere along the way. I decided to just go bare bones and add apps one at a time to see what is going wrong. Got down to the core containers of sb-dashboard (running), sb-homepage (running), sb-npm (refuses to start due to a port conflict with 443 and also 8443), and sb-portainer (which says it is restarting all the time and I can't access anything). I know that vpn stuff can cause all sorts of issues with connecting to stuff. I am unfortunately not using Surfshark (I know that is the preferred one. I already recently signed up for ProtonVPN and am still figuring out how any of this works). I think that if I can just get these four things to all work, I can begin to slowly get one app installed at a time after. But at this point I am lost.

No problem. In case you need it, we are also pushing out a live chatbot assistant today / tomorrow to help with issues under the first backer tier, although this support is also always free.

First — please don't reset the NAS, you don't need to. You didn't break anything. Port conflicts at boot are almost always fixable without rebuilding anything. Two quick things so I can give you the exact fix instead of guessing: 1. What version are you on? Run cat /opt/sparkbox/VERSION. Latest is 1.6.123 — Portainer fixes shipped earlier this month, so if you're behind, an update might already solve that piece. 2. Run sparkbox doctor and paste the full output here. It has a Port Conflicts section that'll show exactly what's holding 443 and 8443. ProtonVPN's fine btw — worry about the VPN later, the four core containers come first.

Pretty close to just factory resetting the whole ugreen NAS and formatting my drives just to make sure I get a clean baseline. I only just started this self hosting stuff... And I already feel super frustrated. Would deleting all data be a good way to ensure that I do all of the things in the right order?

I installed this only 3 days ago, so it was version 1.6.108. I decided to do a total wipe and start over from zero. Not because of anything with this setup. I made a mess of the file system to begin with. I started just dumping pics and drawings I did from my pc on to the drive in such a mishmash of folders because I just wanted a backup. This was before I really learned what this could be used for. Let me take another swing at this once it's reset... I'm determined to do this right. Thanks for replying. I really do appreciate the work you're doing.
