SparkBox patches — Thu Oct 8, 2026

SparkBox releases shipped on Thu Oct 8, 2026 (UTC), in order, newest at the bottom. This thread is updated as releases land during the day. Update from the SparkBox dashboard, or run sudo sparkbox upgrade on your SparkBox host. Legend boxes get every release the day it ships; free boxes get it after it has run there for a week. If a problem remains after updating, submit a private support ticket or reply below with the app name, what you expected, and what happened instead. Earlier days: Tue Oct 6, 2026 · Mon Oct 5, 2026 · Sun Oct 4, 2026 · Sat Oct 3, 2026 · Fri Oct 2, 2026 · Thu Oct 1, 2026 · Wed Sep 30, 2026 v1.6.882 — Your own qBittorrent download folder survives a bundle reset, and two dashboard readings fixed - qBittorrent: if you had picked your own download folder (for example /data/remote/downloads) and then reset the Jellyfin media bundle from the Launcher, qBittorrent went back to /data/downloads. A reset now keeps any download folder you chose inside /data; only qBittorrent's stock /downloads folder, which your media apps cannot see, is still moved to /data/downloads. If yours was already switched back, set it once more in qBittorrent's settings and it stays. - Windows: when the drive holding SparkBox runs low, the checkup (sudo sparkbox doctor) no longer tells you to delete films and downloads if your media folder is on another Windows drive, because deleting them frees nothing on the drive that is full. It now says not to delete media for this, to clear old app versions with sudo docker image prune -f, and then how to hand the room back to Windows. - Resource Usage: on SparkBox installed inside a Proxmox container (LXC), the RAM figure showed 256 MB, which is the dashboard's own allowance, instead of the server's memory. It now shows the server's real total. v1.6.883 — Jellyfin gets its own saved database back, safer full-disk advice, and Chaptarr books reach your reading apps - Jellyfin: if Jellyfin would not start and its log said the server "has been set up before" but "the database has no migration history", its database file had been emptied, which can happen when the disk fills up while Jellyfin updates itself. Do not choose to start over or reinstall Jellyfin. Run sudo sparkbox repair-jellyfin-db: it puts back the copy of its database that Jellyfin saved itself before the update, keeps the empty file aside (nothing is deleted) and starts Jellyfin, with your users and watch history as they were when that copy was made. The checkup (sudo sparkbox doctor) and the dashboard alert now name this and the command. - Full disk: when an app stops because a disk is nearly full, the dashboard alert and the checkup no longer tell you to delete old backups. They send you to sudo sparkbox doctor, which shows what is actually taking the room on that disk, and remind you to keep your newest backup. - Chaptarr: books Chaptarr downloaded never showed up in Kavita or Audiobookshelf, because Chaptarr saved them in the media folder while those apps read their own book folders. Chaptarr can now see those folders as /books and /audiobooks: add one as a root folder in Chaptarr and pick it for an author, and new books land where Kavita or Audiobookshelf finds them. Your existing Chaptarr folders stay as they are. v1.6.884 — A brand-new Jellyfin sets itself up again, and a false checkup warning is gone - Jellyfin: on a new install, or after starting Jellyfin fresh, the automatic setup could stop with "Jellyfin wizard did not complete" and leave you on Jellyfin's own first-run screens, most often on a slower box. Jellyfin 12 reports that it is ready a little before it is, and only creates its first login once it is asked for it. SparkBox now waits for it and asks, so Jellyfin comes up with its login, and Seerr signed in to it, on its own. - Checkup: sudo sparkbox doctor no longer warns about a "per-app override for an unknown app" because of a file ending in .suggested.yml in state/overrides. SparkBox writes that file itself as a copy you can paste from and never applies it; the checkup and sudo sparkbox up now leave it alone.
