SparkBox patches — Sun Oct 11, 2026
Posted by Chris
SparkBox releases shipped on Sun Oct 11, 2026 (UTC), in order, newest at the bottom. This thread is updated as releases land during the day. Update from the SparkBox dashboard, or run sudo sparkbox upgrade on your SparkBox host. Legend boxes get every release the day it ships; free boxes get it after it has run there for a week. If a problem remains after updating, submit a private support ticket or reply below with the app name, what you expected, and what happened instead. Earlier days: Sat Oct 10, 2026 · Fri Oct 9, 2026 · Thu Oct 8, 2026 · Tue Oct 6, 2026 · Mon Oct 5, 2026 · Sun Oct 4, 2026 · Sat Oct 3, 2026 v1.6.908 — Matrix Chat: Element opens and signs in from any device on your network - Matrix Chat: Element, the chat app, only works on a secure (https) page, and SparkBox opened it as a plain http address, so on any computer or phone other than the box itself it stopped at "does not support this browser" and never signed in. Typing your server's http address into app.element.io failed too, with "Homeserver URL does not appear to be a valid Matrix homeserver". Element now opens at https://<your box IP:8182 and already points at your own server on that same address, so you can sign in with the account you created. The first time, your browser warns that the connection is not private, because your box made its own certificate: choose Advanced, then continue. Element may then say it could not load its service worker and pictures in chats may not show; messages work. An old http://<your box IP:8182 bookmark now opens the https address. It applies after the update restarts Matrix Chat; your server, account and messages are untouched. v1.6.909 — VPN settings stop you saving a server address your VPN provider doesn't have - VPN: with a provider like Surfshark picked, typing a server address into "Server IP (Endpoint)" only works if that address is one of the provider's own servers. Otherwise the VPN never connected (its log said "target IP address not found") and qBittorrent, Prowlarr, Sonarr and Radarr stayed down with it, while the settings window saved the mix without a word. Saving it is now refused with the two ways out: clear "Server IP (Endpoint)" and let your provider pick a server, or choose Other / Custom as the provider and import your WireGuard .conf file to use that exact server. An address that is one of your provider's servers still saves as before. If your VPN is already stuck this way, sudo sparkbox doctor and Tom AI now name that box as the cause instead of pointing you at your key and address. - The uninstall answer in the help now gives the full reset command (sudo sparkbox reset --nuke) and, for a Windows PC set up with the installer, the Windows uninstaller, instead of telling you to delete the install folder by hand.
