You don't need to connect to a server yourself. SparkBox runs its own VPN connection from the key you saved and picks a Surfshark server for you, so the Surfshark app doesn't have to be open or connected for this. When the tunnel won't come up with Surfshark, it is almost always one of the boxes in the VPN settings. Open them at http://<your box's address:8443/classic-visit?open=vpn (in the classic dashboard that's Settings → Network → Edit VPN settings) and check: 1. VPN Provider: Surfshark. Protocol: WireGuard. 2. WireGuard Private Key: the private key of the WireGuard key pair you made on Surfshark's manual-setup page. The public key is the usual mix-up and won't connect. 3. WireGuard Address: 10.14.0.2/16, slash and all. If this box is empty the VPN can't start. 4. VPN Server Country: a country Surfshark has servers in, such as United States, or leave it empty and the VPN picks one. Leave VPN Server Hostnames empty. Then click Save & Restart and give it about a minute. If SparkBox runs on a Windows PC and the Surfshark app is on that same PC, quit the app completely (Disconnect isn't enough): its kill switch can block the box's own VPN. Still not working after that? Run sudo sparkbox doctor and paste the lines under [VPN Tunnel] here. They show the VPN's own reason and don't include your key.
