You're not doing anything wrong โ the Moonfin request button inside Jellyfin has a known bug talking to Seerr, and it's on our fix list. Good news is you don't actually need it. Seerr works completely on its own: open it directly in your browser at http://your-nas-ip:5055, sign in with your Jellyfin account there, and you can browse and request everything exactly the same. The Moonfin button is only a small convenience, not required. Sorry it's been a sticking point โ we'll get the in-Jellyfin version patched, but the direct Seerr page will get you fully up and running today.

Good news for you and noahlol01 โ the fix is live in v1.6.222. The in-Jellyfin Moonfin button can now actually log into Seerr. It applies on its own the next time your media apps start, or grab it right away over SSH with: sudo sparkbox update After that, open Jellyfin and try the request button again โ it should sign you in this time. Thanks for hanging in there on this one, it took us way too long to corner it.

I also have the same issue, tried fixing it with Tom a few weeks back without any luck. Hopefully a fix is on the horizon ๐

okay, will try. do i need to add anything in the moonfin plugin settings?

If I did the Moonfin install manually, what should I write in the URL for Seerr? Or should I try to remove Moonfin and use the Install toggle in SparkBox? I did try yesterday evening a few patches back without luck though.

For a manual Moonfin install, the Seerr URL is your box's address with port 5055: http://your-nas-ip:5055 (swap in your actual NAS IP). But honestly the cleaner path now is to remove the manual Moonfin and use the SparkBox toggle instead, then run sudo sparkbox update so you're on 1.6.222 where the in-Jellyfin login is fixed. noahlol01 you don't need to change anything in the plugin settings after updating, just open Jellyfin and hit the request button again. If either of you still sees it fail after updating, paste what the button says and we'll dig in.

with only the sparkbox toogle for jellyfin there is no moonfin? do i need to reset my jellyfin container. have tried restarting

i can get the login prompt with my manual moonfin plugin. but i get an unexpected error occured

Thanks for the detail โ that's the clue. Our fix lives in the SparkBox-installed Moonfin, so a plugin you added by hand doesn't get it and that's why you still hit the error. Quickest path: remove your manual Moonfin plugin from Jellyfin, then turn Moonfin on from the SparkBox Apps page and run sudo sparkbox update so you're on 1.6.235. After it restarts, open Jellyfin and the request button should log you into Seerr cleanly. If you'd rather not switch right now, you can always just open Seerr directly at http://your-nas-ip:5055 and request everything there โ same result. Tell me which way you go and if the error sticks, paste the exact wording.

Okay have removed the manual moonfin. Toogled on moonfin in sparkbox and updated to 235. With the toogle I can't open moonfin client and see the seerr connection button

You've done everything right โ nothing's broken on your end, so don't stress. That in-Jellyfin Moonfin button has been finicky for a few folks and we're still ironing it out. Good news is you don't actually need it. Open Seerr straight in your browser at http://your-nas-ip:5055 (swap in your real NAS IP) and you can search and request every movie and show right there โ it's the exact same thing the button does. If you'd like to help me track the button down: in Jellyfin go to Dashboard, then My Plugins, and tell me whether 'Moonfin' shows up in that list.
noahlol01 wrote:
okay. yeah its okay i can still reach my seerr with your way. yeah in the jellyfin dashboard the moonfin doesnt show up. have tried a few times over diffrent versions.
tomspark wrote:
Perfect, that confirms it for me โ thanks for checking. If Moonfin isn't showing in Jellyfin's plugin list at all, then it's our install side not getting it in there properly, not anything you did. I'm digging into that now so it just works for the next person. No rush on your end โ Seerr in the browser does everything that button would, so you're not missing any features. I'll follow up right here when there's a fix to grab.
