Media setup now fully automated — Jellyfin wizard and Seerr login drive themselves
Posted by tomspark
SparkBox 1.5.43 ships with sparkbox media-autoseed, a headless automation that eliminates the manual Jellyfin + Seerr setup wizards entirely. When you run sparkbox enable media, the entire chain now drives itself: VPN comes up, all arr services wire together, then Jellyfin's first-run wizard runs headless via Chromium, creates an admin user, and Seerr signs in automatically. You open Seerr and land on discover. You open Jellyfin and log in with credentials saved in your dashboard. This kills the old flow where you had to manually juggle 7 fields across two wizard UIs. Playwright and Chromium (~200MB, one-time) bootstrap on-demand the first time you enable media and get reused on subsequent runs — no image size bloat. The entire process is idempotent: if any step is already done, it skips; delete state/media-autoseeded to force a re-run if something goes sideways. Highlights: • Zero manual input in either wizard — credentials auto-generated and stored • Jellyfin admin password and API key saved to dashboard, surfaced in first-login helper • Full idempotency — safe to re-invoke, skips completed steps • Works around Jellyfin 10.10's fresh-DB startup bug via headless browser automation Grab the update from the Updates tab in your dashboard. If media setup fails, post the logs here in d/sparkbox and I'll dig in. --- Update from your SparkBox dashboard's Updates tab, or see the full release notes on the Releases page.
