Mature Box that was running well is now struggling after updates
Posted by currentlylive
Hello, I have had this box up and running since the beginning of sparkbox and have worked hard to get it to be as worry free as possible. I was having no issues for a while until I believe one of the recent updates and now jellyfin is stuck in a loop and not starting. The Nvidia Drive error does not make sense because I have had those drivers installed since my initial setup of sparkbox and even when putting none jellyfin still is stuck in a loop. Bellow is what the sparkbox AI has told me: SparkBox AI replied: Jellyfin is still stuck in Created. Docker never starts it, so Jellyfin itself hasn't failed. Everything else is up, with the Prowlarr search helper (Byparr) still settling. The NVIDIA error is coming from the container Docker already built, and it still asks for an NVIDIA GPU. Changing the setting doesn't fix that by itself. The container has to be rebuilt with sparkbox up, and that only works if the setting really says none. Can you run this and paste the line it prints? grep JELLYFINHWACCEL /opt/sparkbox/.env - If it says JELLYFINHWACCEL=none, I'll rebuild Jellyfin with the up repair, and you confirm it when the prompt shows. - If it still says nvidia or is missing, run sudo sparkbox set-env JELLYFINHWACCEL none first. Then send me the line again. Also, Byparr failed 47 of 78 self-tests in the last day, and the VPN is up. Once Jellyfin is running, I'll restart media and check it.

Sorry this has kept Jellyfin down after the update, especially with the setting already changed. I checked the steps from the earlier reply against the SparkBox code, and they are the right direction, but the setting only takes effect when Jellyfin is recreated. The NVIDIA message comes from the container Docker already built. That container keeps its old GPU request until it is recreated with the current setting, which sudo sparkbox up media does. Please run these three read-only checks and paste only the output lines: 1. grep JELLYFINHWACCEL /opt/sparkbox/.env (should show JELLYFINHWACCEL=none) 2. sudo docker ps -a --filter name=jellyfin --format '{{.Names}} {{.Status}}' (shows whether Jellyfin is stuck in Created or restarting) 3. sudo docker info 2/dev/null | grep -i runtimes (lists nvidia only if Docker still has the NVIDIA runtime) Also tell me whether this is a Linux PC or server, a NAS, or Windows with WSL2, and the output of sparkbox version. The next step depends on those. Please don't paste passwords or your whole .env file here.
