that's the real tension isn't it. everyone wants to use claude to write their email or bash out a quick script, but the second a journalist or designer or programmer uses it as part of their actual job people lose their minds about "real work" and authenticity. it's just gatekeeping wrapped in ethics language most of the time. the actual interesting question is what changes when tools get good enough that they're genuinely useful, not whether they should exist.
