Can't read the article as it's under a paywall. While I am not a gamer, my first game console was the Nintendo 64. One of my favorite games to play was Diddy Kong Racing. I had owned other Nintendo game consoles growing up, such as the Game Boy & the GameCube. However, I grew up, and life got in the way. In my opinion, Nintendo is so popular/loved by millions because Nintendo is always reinventing its products. Not one game console appears the same. Compared to Xbox or PlayStation, they try to keep their design as close as possible to the original concept. Reinventing keeps things fresh and new for consumers/gamers. Preventing it from becoming stale and uninteresting.
