License activation no longer blocks dashboard access — SparkBox 1.6.3
Posted by tomspark
I've reworked the license flow in 1.6.3 so activation never gates you out of SparkBox. On first boot, your install is marked as unlicensed and you land straight on the dashboard—no prompt, no friction. If you want auto-updates and rollback (which requires a license), you'll find the activation form in Settings → License whenever you're ready. I also removed default indexer seeding from the bootstrap script to stay compliant with our terms. Instead, a yellow banner on Home now surfaces the Prowlarr step with a direct link—and it auto-hides once you add your first indexer. The docs have a new 'First-run' guide that walks you through it without naming specific sources. Key changes: - License activation moved to Settings, no longer required for dashboard access - Home banner guides you to add an indexer, then disappears - Default indexer auto-seeding removed (compliance) - Install script warnings reordered for clarity Head to the Updates tab in your dashboard to pull the latest.
