Media search should check existing movies and shows for size and audio language, not just new downloads
Posted by Nultima
The new media search has size limits and a sharer minimum, but they only apply to what gets grabbed next. Existing files are left alone. I have a movie or show I already own that is too big, or movies and shows that don't have the sub/dub language I want. Right now nothing in the search tells me that, and there's nothing to optimize the files that I already have. I'd have to check each title by hand. What I'd like: A check on titles already in the library against the same size limit (or a separate one) and a preferred audio/subtitle language. A list of the titles that fail, with the reason for each (too large, wrong audio language, no preferred subtitles). An option to search for a replacement copy that passes, and keep the current file until the new one is in. Nothing deleted without confirmation. Happy to test it on a box with a mixed library.

Thanks, Nultima. You're right that the new size limit and sharer minimum only apply to what gets grabbed next, so titles you already own aren't checked against them. I've logged this as a feature request with the parts you listed: checking titles already in the library against a size limit and a preferred audio and subtitle language, a list of the titles that fail with the reason for each, an option to search for a replacement that keeps the current file until the new one is in, and nothing deleted without your confirmation. I can't promise it will be built or when, but the request is recorded for the team to review. Thanks for offering to test it on a mixed library.
