Your SparkBox week — Nov 5
Posted by tomspark
Here's what shipped to every SparkBox this week — if your box is up to date, you already have all of it: • On a Synology NAS, SparkBox no longer resets your shared folder's permissions, which could lock the NAS's own Plex package out of your library. It now tells you which DSM setting to change instead. • Doctor names apps that started without internet name lookups after a reboot, and gives the one command that fixes them. • Doctor now says when Local AI is running on the CPU because your NVIDIA card has no driver installed, and how to fix it. • When your server can't look up names because Tailscale on the server took over its DNS, doctor says so and shows how to hand DNS back. • The dashboard no longer leaves stuck background processes piling up on your server. • Installing or reinstalling now opens the same firewall ports as sparkbox up, including ports you changed in your settings, and no longer adds a stray port-0 rule. • Pressing Get started on the welcome screen no longer switches off a media center you'd already set up, so Tom AI and the VPN card see it again. Get started only adds apps now; it never removes one. • Home page: if the VPN status can't be read for a moment, the page says "VPN status unavailable" instead of "VPN not configured", and checks again on its next refresh. 📣 Shoutouts this week: could be you. Report what's broken and you might see your name in next week's thread. Got a bug or a feature idea? Post it right here in d/sparkbox and Tom's team reads it. P.S. Tell a friend about SparkBox: you earn $10 for every Legend sale you refer, and they get $10 off.
