Feature request: show what’s keeping my media drive active
Posted by Nultima
I’m trying to reduce unnecessary drive activity and extend the time my disks can stay idle, without turning off my SparkBox. Could SparkBox add a Storage Activity view that shows, as clearly as the system allows, which SparkBox apps or background tasks are reading from or writing to the media drive? It’d help to see recent activity over time, plus a simple explanation of what’s still running when the box is otherwise idle. If the system can identify the cause, it could offer safe controls to delay or limit optional background work—like scheduled scans—without interrupting downloads, imports, backups, or syncs. If SparkBox can’t tell what woke a disk, it should say that rather than guess. I’d use this to find out whether SparkBox is actually keeping the drive busy, and what I can safely change to get longer quiet periods without shutting down the box.
