SparkBox patches — Sat Oct 10, 2026

SparkBox releases shipped on Sat Oct 10, 2026 (UTC), in order, newest at the bottom. This thread is updated as releases land during the day. Update from the SparkBox dashboard, or run sudo sparkbox upgrade on your SparkBox host. Legend boxes get every release the day it ships; free boxes get it after it has run there for a week. If a problem remains after updating, submit a private support ticket or reply below with the app name, what you expected, and what happened instead. Earlier days: Fri Oct 9, 2026 · Thu Oct 8, 2026 · Tue Oct 6, 2026 · Mon Oct 5, 2026 · Sun Oct 4, 2026 · Sat Oct 3, 2026 · Fri Oct 2, 2026 v1.6.897 — The doctor explains a stopped VPN and how to start it - Doctor and Tom AI: when the Media Center had been stopped, the doctor said the download VPN "never actually ran" and blamed a missing kernel module or a setup mistake, so Sonarr, Radarr, SABnzbd and the other download apps stayed down and Tom AI handed it to support. The doctor now says the VPN ran and then stopped, and when, shows the VPN's own last error (passwords hidden), and gives the one command to start it again: sudo sparkbox up media. The download apps start by themselves once the VPN connects. v1.6.898 — App links use your box's home-network address - Windows (WSL) and Linux: the list of app links printed by sparkbox urls and at the end of sudo sparkbox up could use an address that only works inside the box, so links pointed nowhere and a Windows box set up for the whole house wrongly warned "only works on this PC — phones, TVs and consoles cannot reach it". The links now use the box's real home-network address, the same one sudo sparkbox doctor checks, and the warning only appears when other devices really cannot reach the box. Run sparkbox urls after updating to see the corrected links. v1.6.899 — Tom AI knows what to do when Radarr or Sonarr has no download client - Tom AI: when Radarr or Sonarr had no download client set up — so every search waited with "No download client is available" — Tom AI could not say why and handed it to support. It now tells you what to do: wait a few minutes if SparkBox is still setting up the media apps, otherwise run sudo sparkbox arr-bootstrap on the server to add qBittorrent again, or sudo sparkbox reset-password qbit when SparkBox's saved qBittorrent password no longer matches. v1.6.900 — Tom AI no longer says phones can't reach your Windows box when they can - Windows (WSL): when Tom AI ran the checkup, it could warn "WSL NAT: not reachable from the LAN" — phones, TVs and consoles cannot reach this box — on every Windows PC, even ones the whole house could reach, because it looked at the dashboard's own address instead of your PC's. It now checks the home-network address your box saved, and when it cannot tell from inside the dashboard it says so and gives the one phone test to settle it. Running sudo sparkbox doctor on the box itself works as before.
