SparkBox patches — Tue Sep 29, 2026

SparkBox releases shipped on Tue Sep 29, 2026 (UTC), in order, newest at the bottom. This thread is updated as releases land during the day. Update from the SparkBox dashboard, or run sudo sparkbox upgrade on your SparkBox host. Legend boxes get every release the day it ships; free boxes get it after it has run there for a week. If a problem remains after updating, submit a private support ticket or reply below with the app name, what you expected, and what happened instead. Earlier days: Mon Sep 28, 2026 · Sun Sep 27, 2026 · Sat Sep 26, 2026 · Fri Sep 25, 2026 · Thu Sep 24, 2026 · Wed Sep 23, 2026 · Tue Sep 22, 2026 v1.6.811 — Jellyfin starts on a Proxmox container that has no graphics card passed in - If SparkBox runs inside a Proxmox container (LXC) and the computer's graphics card is not passed into that container, Jellyfin could stay stopped with "error gathering device information while adding custom device /dev/dri", because SparkBox saw the Proxmox machine's graphics card and asked for it anyway. Now SparkBox only asks for a graphics card the container it runs in can actually use, so Jellyfin starts and transcodes on the CPU; containers with the graphics card passed through keep hardware transcoding. Update with sudo sparkbox upgrade, then run sudo sparkbox restart media once. v1.6.812 — Vaultwarden's admin page accepts your saved admin code again - If Vaultwarden's admin page (port 8222, /admin) kept refusing the admin code shown in Settings → Service Passwords, and later said "too many requests", a setting saved earlier on Vaultwarden's own admin page was replacing the code SparkBox gave it. Update with sudo sparkbox upgrade, then run sudo sparkbox reset-password vaultwarden: it removes only that stored admin code (a copy is kept), keeps your vault and every other Vaultwarden setting, lifts the too-many-requests lockout and confirms the saved code now signs in. Tom AI also no longer tells you to turn the code into a hash, which never changed anything. - App updates in this release: Nextcloud 35.0.1 (from 34), Audiobookshelf 2.37.0, Ollama 0.35.0, Immich 3.2.4, and small fixes for BookStack, changedetection.io, Shelfarr and Tunarr. Each was tried as an upgrade over existing data before it shipped; your files and settings stay in place. v1.6.813 — Restoring a backup on a new computer brings your settings back with it - If you moved SparkBox to a new computer by making a backup, installing SparkBox fresh and running sudo sparkbox restore, the apps could start with the new install's empty settings instead of the ones in your backup: the VPN said its key was not set, the download apps never started, and the restore then tried to undo itself and could leave the new install half put back. Now a restore starts your apps on the settings from your backup, and if something does fail it stops those apps first and puts the previous install back whole. Update with sudo sparkbox upgrade before you restore. v1.6.814 — Doctor now tells you when your apps can't write into your Movies, TV or Music folder - If an app like Lidarr, Sonarr or Radarr said its library folder was not writable (for example "Root folder path '/data/Music' is not writable", or it could not rename files), sudo sparkbox doctor could still say your media folder was writable, because it only checked the very top of it. Doctor now also checks the Movies, TV, Music and downloads folders as your apps, names any your apps can't write into, and tells you to run sudo sparkbox check-media-perms, which fixes them or tells you exactly what to change. v1.6.815 — The sign-in page tells you when your browser couldn't reach SparkBox - If the sign-in page showed "Failed to fetch" after you pressed Let me in, your browser never reached SparkBox, so your password was not checked at all, but it was easy to read as a wrong password and reset or reinstall. The sign-in page now says that plainly: wait a minute and try again, and if it keeps happening run sudo sparkbox doctor on the box, which names what is blocking the connection. A wrong password is still reported exactly as before. v1.6.816 — A custom app with a wrong image address no longer stops SparkBox from starting - If you added your own app in Settings with the web address of the app's source code (a GitHub link) as its image, SparkBox accepted it and then every start stopped on that one app, so none of your apps came up and the dashboard would not load. Adding an app now refuses an address like that and says what a real image name looks like. And if one of your own apps can't be downloaded when the box starts, SparkBox leaves just that app stopped, tells you how to check it or switch it off (sudo sparkbox custom remove <name), and starts everything else. v1.6.817 — The dashboard shows the sale price on Legend, and free boxes get their Legend banner back - During the holiday sale, the new dashboard still said Legend was $49 on every Legend button and card, while the website was charging $29. Every Legend button, card and Tom AI message now shows the sale price and when the sale ends, and it goes back to the normal price by itself when the sale is over. One card also listed a price that was simply wrong ($99); it now shows the real Legend price. - Free boxes on the new dashboard get back the slim Legend banner at the top of the home page that the Classic dashboard always had. When one of your apps is unhealthy it says so, and if you still have your free Tom AI tries, its button opens Tom AI with the question already typed so it can look at the problem for you.
