Ollama now uses your GPU by default, media checkup stops false alarms
Posted by tomspark
I reviewed the telemetry and the GPU pass-through logs — Ollama was sitting on CPU even on boxes with working Nvidia cards because the setting shipped disabled. That's fixed in 1.6.638. If your box has the Nvidia runtime, Ollama automatically gets GPU access now, same as everything else. Local AI answers will be noticeably faster. I also tracked down why the media checkup was flagging subfolder structures as problems. A Kids folder under TV, or a Movies subfolder under Movies — those are normal and fine. The checkup was being too strict and generating noise. It's not anymore. Highlights: - Ollama GPU pass-through now enabled by default on Nvidia systems - Media checkup no longer reports nested library subfolders as stray roots Head to the Updates tab in your dashboard to pull this down.
