v1.6.609 — Chaptarr: automatic ebook & audiobook downloads (the Readarr ask, answered)
Posted by tomspark
A new optional app just landed in the media stack: Chaptarr — think Sonarr/Radarr, but for books. Follow an author or grab a single title, and the ebook or audiobook arrives through your existing download setup. Flip it on under Media → Chaptarr in the dashboard (it's off by default). Everything is wired for you the moment you enable it: qBittorrent, the /data/Books and /data/Audiobooks folders, and the search sources you already set up in Prowlarr. Your login is auto-generated and sits in Settings → Service Passwords, same as the other apps. One honest note for everyone who asked for Readarr: Readarr's own developers retired it — its metadata service died and the project was abandoned. Chaptarr is its actively-maintained successor and handles ebooks and audiobooks in one app, so that's what we ship. Pairs nicely with the Ebooks & Comics and Audiobookshelf apps for the reading/listening side. Also fixed in this release: turning an optional media app (Lidarr, Notifiarr, and now Chaptarr) OFF from the dashboard now actually stops it immediately — previously the app kept running until your next full restart. Boxes on auto-update get 1.6.609 overnight; sudo sparkbox upgrade gets it now. --- Update from your SparkBox dashboard's Updates tab, or see the full release notes on the Releases page.
