Tom AI now tells you what actually went wrong
Posted by tomspark
I reviewed the error logs from the past month and saw a pattern: when Tom AI hit a snag, we were burying the real reason under a generic 'request failed' message. That meant you couldn't tell if our AI provider was down, your connection dropped, or we had a billing issue—and it meant support tickets took longer to resolve. In 1.6.563, Tom AI now reports the actual error or code, so you can see the difference between a provider outage and a network hiccup at a glance. Key changes: • Error messages now include the real reason (provider down, connection timeout, rate limit, billing hold, etc.) • Billing issues get a specific contact code so you know to reach out instead of waiting for a retry • Cleaner distinction between "our infrastructure" vs "your network" vs "third-party service" Check the Updates tab in your dashboard to pull the latest version. If something doesn't look right, post here in d/sparkbox and we'll sort it. --- Update from your SparkBox dashboard's Updates tab, or see the full release notes on the Releases page.

Thanks for those screenshots, backspace. Just so I can be sure this is sorted on your box — is Tom AI working for you now, or is it still throwing an error? If a message is still coming up, tell me what it says and I'll dig in.
