Patch shipped: v1.6.530 — clicking the Windows install window can no longer freeze the install
Posted by tomspark
One more Windows installer fix to close out the day. Windows consoles have a hidden gotcha: click anywhere inside a console window and Windows silently pauses the program until you press a key (it's a text-selection feature called QuickEdit — the only clue is the word 'Select' in the title bar). During a 10-30 minute install, clicking the window you're watching is completely natural, and it froze everything. The installer now switches that off for its own windows, so watching, clicking, and scrolling are always safe. If you're ever on an older installer and it looks frozen: click the window and press Esc — it resumes instantly, nothing is lost.
