1.6.521: crash-loop alarms, real health checks, Windows dashboard fix
Posted by tomspark
I've been working through the support backlog and the telemetry over the past few weeks, and this release fixes a bunch of things that made installs look broken when they weren't, or actually were broken but we didn't tell you. The big ones: Windows users will now open the real dashboard instead of a placeholder page; the support assistant admits when a fix didn't stick instead of lying about it; and apps that crash-loop get named and alarmed instead of restarting silently forever. Here's what changed in 1.6.521: - Crash-loop alarms actually work now. Apps stuck in a restart loop get flagged instead of hidden. Jellyfin mid-update? You'll see the exact config folder to restore. Same for AdGuard, Nginx during certificate renewal, Tdarr with missing GPUs — each one names the cause. - Health checks are real. The home screen now shows actual health, not just 'running'. A failing app no longer shows as healthy. - Windows dashboard opens correctly. The shortcut and installer finish page now hit port 8443 instead of the proxy placeholder. - Backups got smarter. Media libraries no longer sneak into your backups on Windows and VPS. Boxes with no media no longer show 'partial'. The V2 dashboard can now reveal and copy your encryption key. - Recovery after VPN startup. Media apps that crashed while the VPN was still coming up now recover on the next sparkbox up. - Better setup. Tdarr's cache question no longer blocks install, memory is adjustable via TDARRMEMLIMIT, File Browser can see your books and audiobooks folders, and all docs now say sudo sparkbox set-env instead of telling you to hand-edit files. Head to the Updates tab in your dashboard to pull it down. If something breaks, post here in d/sparkbox and I'll dig in. --- Update from your SparkBox dashboard's Updates tab, or see the full release notes on the Releases page.
