Patch shipped: v1.6.484 — free signup, password changes, Tailscale, and honest release notes
Posted by tomspark
Two releases went out today, 24 fixes between them. The ones worth knowing about: - Signing up for the free personal-use licence never worked. Our own server issued your key and then refused it a second later, so every attempt ended on an error. If you tried the free signup and gave up, please try again — it goes through now. - Changing your dashboard password now signs out every other device. Before, it only changed the password: anyone already signed in on another phone or laptop stayed signed in. If you ever changed yours because you were worried someone else had it, change it once more. - A support session now really ends when it says it does. The temporary key that lets us in for troubleshooting was only expired by a live countdown, so a reboot left it valid while the dashboard told you access had ended. - The maintenance window in Settings → Updates now covers SparkBox itself. The day and time you picked only ever controlled app updates — the bigger SparkBox upgrade was fixed at 5am. So "Sunday 3am" now means Sunday 3am. - Overnight updates tell you when they failed. A failed run still showed the last successful date, so a box that had quietly stopped updating looked perfectly healthy. - Two Tailscale fixes. Sonarr, Radarr, qBittorrent and the rest now answer over Tailscale when you're away from home — they never could. And your own serve/Funnel settings file survives an update, including a failed one that rolls back, where it was previously deleted. And one that was our own fault, so it's worth saying plainly: v1.6.483's release notes were broken. It published placeholder text instead of the list of fixes, and 71 older versions had no notes at all. If you updated recently and "What's New" looked empty or made no sense, that was us, not your box. The missing notes are filled in, and the release process now refuses to publish placeholder text at all. To update: sudo sparkbox upgrade Thanks to everyone who reported these — several came straight from things people flagged here.
