Project Goals, Backer Numbers, and Roadmap Updates

If you missed it, I just set up a new backer support goal with three milestones. Every backer is getting access to Tom Ai, which is a troubleshooter to help you fix self hosting issues optimized for our SparkBox configs. It's taking in a ton of data from your issues, and reporting back to me, so I've become aware of lots of bugs and fixed them already. For a project that's only been live about three weeks, that's a great start - and a lot of you are also supporting development through our affiliate links, which I really appreciate. Surfshark has been a popular option, since it's one of the best deals on the market and pre-wired to work seamlessly with our configs. Every milestone lets us put more back into SparkBox. We're still working to recover the initial development costs as we head into month two, and while sign-ups have been solid, we could use a bit more support to get there. Here's what each step unlocks: - At 1,000 backers, I'll bring on another engineer to help optimize and audit the code we've already shipped, so we can squash bugs faster. - At 1,500 backers, we'll invest in serious penetration testing and deeper hardening to make SparkBox as solid as possible. I'm also heads-down on some big things right now: 1. A guide (plus a setup script) for wiping a UGREEN NAS and running a clean Ubuntu server with SparkBox optimized out of the box - basically a fresh machine doing nothing but running SparkBox. I bought a new SSD to make it faster it as well. 2. I'm also exploring an optional service where I'd act as a middle man to help you encrypt and back up your files to secure cloud storage, so you never lose your data. The idea is to build it so I can't decrypt your files and never hold that responsibility - but for anyone who wants a hand setting it up, I'd get you across the finish line for a small monthly fee.
