1.7.8 makes setup recovery clearer and media apps more reliable
Posted by tomspark
SparkBox 1.7.8 is out, with a broad pass over media setup, diagnostics, backups, and the dashboard; I reviewed the failure reports and chose fixes that make the next action clearer instead of leaving you with a generic error. - Media Center now installs after “Skip the VPN for now,” and its card waits for Jellyfin and Seerr setup before saying it is running. - sudo sparkbox doctor now identifies port conflicts, VPN/browser checkup failures, unfinished media setup, missing mounts, and Ghost URL mismatches—with the command or setting to fix each one, including on Windows. - Linkding, Wallos, Seerr, Navidrome, Audiobookshelf, Emby, and AdGuard Home get safer startup and resource handling, while Jellyfin has a one-step fresh database repair that preserves your media. - Backups can now be restored on a new box with the old box’s saved key, and Settings → Backup → Local archives tells you when that key is missing or wrong. - The release also fixes root-installed app permissions, dashboard status messages, package downloads that hang, Vaultwarden HTTPS access, Local AI reinstallation, and several app-specific setup paths. You’re running version 1.7.8; see the Updates tab in your dashboard, and report issues by posting in d/sparkbox. --- Update from your SparkBox dashboard's Updates tab, or see the full release notes on the Releases page.
