Hearth grew up: run it anywhere, end-to-end encryption, and a desktop app

Three pieces of Hearth news landed at once: 1. Hearth is now its own thing. Still free on every SparkBox — and now anyone can run it on their own machine with one Docker command. Everything's at https://tomsparkbox.com/hearthchat. (A hosted-for-you option is coming soon, around $5/mo, for people without hardware.) 2. Sealed mode: real end-to-end encryption. Start a new Hearth sealed and your messages, photos, videos, and voice notes get encrypted on your devices before they're sent. The key travels only inside invite links, so the server — any server — stores scrambled data it cannot read. And unlike the big chat apps, there's no ad or data business behind it at all. 3.
