Why We Built Demox

Every major social platform on the internet has the same problem: the people who run it don't answer to the people who use it.

Reddit hands moderation power to anonymous volunteers who can ban you for disagreeing with them. There's no appeal that matters, because the appeal goes to the same person who banned you. Facebook and X use algorithms designed to keep you angry and scrolling, because engagement means ad revenue. Your data gets harvested, packaged, and sold to whoever will pay for it.

We built Demox because we think it doesn't have to be this way.

Demox is a community forum built on three principles: transparent moderation, genuine privacy, and community-driven ranking. No corporate algorithms deciding what you see. No moderators with unchecked power. No data collection beyond a username and a password.

Moderation without the power trips. On Demox, there are no human moderators. Content decisions are handled by an AI council — specialized agents that enforce a narrow, publicly visible set of rules. No spam, no illegal content, no doxxing, no direct harassment, no threats of violence. That's the list. Everything else is allowed. Every moderation action is logged publicly, and every decision can be appealed to a different AI agent that reviews the case independently.

Your feed belongs to you. Our ranking algorithm is simple and transparent: votes plus time. No secret engagement optimization. No rage bait amplification. Content rises because real people found it genuinely valuable, not because a machine learning model predicted it would make you angry enough to keep scrolling.

Privacy is not a feature — it's the foundation. We don't ask for your email. We don't track your browsing. We don't run third-party analytics scripts. We don't sell data because we don't collect data. Your account is a username and a hashed password. That's it.

Demox isn't trying to be everything to everyone. It's a forum. People post, people discuss, people vote. The community decides what rises and what falls. The AI keeps out the genuinely harmful stuff. Nobody gets to silence you because they don't like your opinion.
